GREENSBORO, N.C.-Virginia track and field senior Marcus Robinson (Richmond, Va.) has been named the ACC Indoor Track and Field Men’s Performer of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday (Jan. 31).

Robinson broke the Virginia school record and qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the triple jump with a mark of 16.30m (53’5.75″), Saturday at the Penn State National Invitational. The Richmond, Va., native hit the No. 1 mark in the nation so far this season and broke Keith Witherspoon’s UVa record that had stood since 1976 by more than five inches.

Robinson earned second-team All-America honors during the 2011 indoor season in the same event.

Next weekend, the Cavaliers will split up for different meets, including the Liberty Quad in Lynchburg, Va. (Feb. 10), the Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash. (Feb. 10-11) and the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. (Feb. 10-11).
