CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia baseball team entertains Liberty at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the teams’ first matchup since 2009. Live audio and statistics will be available at VirginiaSports.com.

The game is another $2 Tuesday with hot dogs and sodas available for $2 each.

The scheduled pitching matchup is Virginia RHP Artie Lewicki (0-0, 6.0 IP, 3.00 ERA) versus Liberty LHP Tim Dudley (0-0, 5.1 IP, 0.00 ERA).

Virginia (5-1-1) rolled to four-consecutive wins last week at Davenport Field and is now 102-18 at home since the start of the 2009 season. UVa downed William and Mary, 6-5 in 11 innings, Wednesday before steamrolling through its three-game weekend series with Monmouth. The Cavaliers outscored Monmouth 37-6 in the series.

Jared King (Sr., Radford, Va.) hit .600 (9-for-15) with a .667 on base percentage and six RBI last week to highlight a strong week for the offense. Reed Gragnani (Jr., Richmond, Va.) also had a strong week, going 8-for-17 (.471), while freshmen Derek Fisher (Rexmont, Pa.) and Nate Irving (Yonkers, N.Y.) each hit .444 (4-for-9).

Liberty is off to a strong start with an 8-1 record after taking three of four games against Siena last weekend in Lynchburg. The Flames are hitting .343 as a team and led by Bryan Aanderud, who owns a .500 batting average (16-for-32). Zack Haley also is batting .414

Virginia has won the last eight meetings against the Flames, with Liberty’s last win coming on March 5, 2002, in Lynchburg. UVa won the last meeting, 5-2, on April 28, 2009, at Davenport Field. No current Cavaliers have played previously against Liberty.

UVa returns to Davenport Field this weekend for a three-team round robin tournament featuring Seton Hall and Wright State. All three teams competed in the 2011 NCAA Tournament. Two games will be played Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Seton Hall and Wright State open play at noon Friday, and WSU then will face the Cavaliers at 4 p.m.
