Emily Fraser Named ACC Women's Tennis Player of the Week

CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia senior Emily Fraser (Rye, N.Y.) was named the ACC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, conference officials announced Tuesday. Fraser led the Cavaliers to the championship last week at the Blue/Gray Tennis Classic in Montgomery, Ala.

Fraser guided Virginia to victories over Auburn, No. 33 Arizona and No. 20 Alabama to win the tournament. In the 4-3 victory over the Crimson Tide in the final, the No. 21-ranked Fraser posted a key 7-6, 6-2 win over 15th-ranked Mary Anne MacFarlane at the No. 1 position.

It is the second ACC Player of the Week honor for Fraser this season and the third of her career.

Virginia will return to action on Friday as it hosts VCU.
