CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-Virginia seniors Kevin Anding (Houston, Texas), Marcus Robinson (Richmond, Va.) and Catherine White (Roanoke, Va.) and junior Dallas Rose (Pearland, Texas) have been named captains for the outdoor track and field season, director of track and field/cross country Bryan Fetzer announced Tuesday (March 20).

“They were nominated by their peers,” Fetzer said. “The coaching staff feels very strongly that they will help provide the leadership needed for us to move forward and succeed.”

Anding earned the bronze medal in the 400 meters at the 2011 and 2012 ACC Indoor Championships and was a part of the distance medley relay team that won gold at the 2010 indoor meet. He is a four-time member of the All-ACC Academic squad.

Robinson is a two-time All-American, including a fifth-place finish at the 2012 NCAA Indoor Championships in the triple jump. He broke the school and ACC indoor record in the event in 2012 (16.63m (54’6.75″) and won the conference crown in the triple jump at the 2011 and 2012 indoor meets.

Rose earned second-team All-America status with a 12th-place finish in the triple jump at the 2012 national indoor meet. She earned bronze in the same event at this year’s conference meet and is a two-time member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll.

White is a three-time All-American, including a fourth-place finish at the 2009 NCAA Cross Country Championships. Before transferring to UVa for the fall semester of 2009, White was a three-time Southeastern Conference champion (cross country in 2008, 5,000 and 10,000 meters in 2009 at Arkansas).

The Cavaliers open the 2012 outdoor season with the UVa Team Swashbuckle on Saturday, March 24. It will be the first meet held at the new track and field facility and admission is free.
