CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – For the second season in a row, UVa midfielder Colin Briggs, midfielder Chris LaPierre and attackman Steele Stanwick have been named to the All-ACC team, as announced Wednesday by the league office. The accolades for Briggs and LaPierre are the second career nods for the midfielders, while Stanwick picks up his third All-ACC honor.

Stanwick (Baltimore, Md.) is only the 16th player in school history named All-ACC at least three times in his career and the first since Danny Glading (2007-08-09). Stanwick is one of 11 players to accomplish the feat while playing for UVa head coach Dom Starsia. The reigning ACC Player of the Year leads UVa with 57 points and 39 assists. Earlier this season he became the first player in ACC history to be named ACC Player of the Week three times in a season.

Briggs (Narragansett, R.I.) earns his second All-ACC honor after tallying 16 goals and 14 assists for 30 points. The 2011 NCAA Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player earned one ACC Player of the Week nod in 2012 and his goal in overtime on March 10lifted UVa past then-No. 3 Cornell, 9-8.

LaPierre (Medford, N.J.) is honored for the second year in a row after primarily playing as a short-stick defensive midfielder. He leads UVa with 50 ground balls, ranking No. 2 in the nation among players who are not faceoff specialists. He has three goals on the season, including scores against Syracuse and North Carolina.

The Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year and Coach of the Year will be announced early next week.

UVa returns to action on Friday in the semifinal round of the ACC Championship, hosted by the Cavaliers at Klöckner Stadium. As the No. 2 seed, Virginia will meet No. 3 seed North Carolina. The contest will face off at 7:30 p.m. and will be televised live on ESPNU in HD.
