CHARLOTTESVILLE — A pair of Virginia women’s tennis players will compete this week in the Boyd Tinsley Women’s Clay Court Classic, a USTA Pro Circuit event at the Boar’s Head Sports Club. Li Xi (Kunming, China) is competing in the qualifying draw, while Lindsey Hardenbergh (Fairfax Station, Va.) received a wild card into the main draw.

Xi opened play on Monday with a 7-6(5), 7-6(10) win over former Maryland standout Eleanor Peters, ranked No. 798 in the world, in the first round of qualifying. She will meet the No. 2 seed in qualifying, world No. 211 Johanna Konta of Australia, in the second round. Xi will need to win two qualifying matches on Tuesday to reach the main draw.

Hardenbergh will compete in the main draw for the second consecutive year. Last year she advanced from qualifying to reach the main draw.
