PHILADELPHIA-The Virginia track and field team continued action at the Penn Relays Friday (April 27) at Franklin Field in Philadelphia.

In the women’s championship discus throw, senior Erin Wykoff (St. Jacob, Ill.) earned bronze with a distance of 51.78m (169′ 10″).

Freshman Nick Vena (Morristown, N.J.) finished fourth in the men’s championship shot put with a mark of 19.08m (62′ 7.25″). Vena, whose best mark came on his first throw, won four Penn Relays high school championships in the event.

The men’s 4×400 relay of senior Kevin Anding (Houston, Texas), sophomore Ozzie Bryan (Philadelphia, Pa.), senior Lance Roller (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) and freshman Payton Hazzard (Huntington, N.Y.) placed sixth in its heat and 16th overall in a time of 3:12.65.

In the men’s college high jump, sophomore Tommy DeVita (Ridgewood, N.J.) placed 11th at a height of 2.00m (6′ 6.75″).

The action at the Penn Relays concludes Saturday (April 28) and a portion of the Cavalier team will compete at the Highlander Invitational in Radford, Va.
