Corrigan Named to Capital One Academic All-America Third Team

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-Virginia track and field senior Anna Corrigan (Burke, Va.) has been named to the Capital One Academic All-America Women’s Track and Field/Cross Country Third Team, the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday (June 21).

With the honor, Corrigan becomes joins Martha Schmitt (1984, third team) as the only female members of the track and field program to earn Academic All-America citations. Rob Cook (1994, second team) and Andrew Dumm (2007, third team) earned Academic All-America honors on the men’s side.

Corrigan helped the Cavalier women’s cross country team to its third NCAA Southeast Region Championship in four years in the fall, placing 10th and earning All-Southeast Region accolades. She scored at the NCAA Championships, helping the Cavaliers earn a 20th-place finish, and won the season-opening Lou Onesty Open.

The senior was also a member of the All-ACC Academic and United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic squads.

In the indoor track and field season, she earned All-ACC honors with a silver medal in the 5,000 meters at the conference meet. In addition, she placed fifth in the 3,000 meters at the ACC Championships.

A three-time member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll, Corrigan graduated with a bachelor’s degree in systems engineering with a minor in civil engineering.
