OMAHA, Neb. – The Virginia swim program was in action as the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials continued Sunday (July 1) at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb.

Rising junior Jan Daniec placed 24th overall in the men’s 1,500-meter freestyle in a time of 15:37.75. Daniec, who was an All-American in the 500-yard free in 2011, touched sixth in his heat.

On Monday evening, the full U.S. Olympic swimming squad will be announced, where former Cavalier Matt McLean’s fifth-place finish in the men’s 200-meter freestyle likely earns him a spot as an alternate. Rising senior Lauren Purdue already punched her ticket for London with a fourth-place finish in the women’s 200m free.
