CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s soccer team finished exhibition play with a scoreless draw against Georgetown Sunday evening at Klöckner Stadium.

The match was Virginia’s final preparation for the 2012 regular season. The Cavaliers play host to Penn State at 7 p.m. Friday to kick off the regular season.

The teams played two 45-minute periods as well as a 30-minute period at the end of the night. The defenses reigned for most of the evening. Virginia took 19 total shots, including nine in the final stanza, while Georgetown took four shots. UVa put five shots on goal, compared to two for Georgetown.

Virginia took eight corner kicks, while Georgetown recorded four. Lia Bellizzi took a team-high four shots for Virginia, including three in the final 30-minute stanza.

Virginia controlled play and put three shots on goal in the final 30 minutes, only to have Georgetown goalkeeper Lauren Trower make strong saves to keep the game scoreless.
