CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia women’s soccer team had two players named to the 2012 Women’s MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, announced this week by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Senior forward Caroline Miller (Rockville, Md.) and sophomore midfielder Morgan Brian (St. Simons Island, Ga.) were among the 38 players selected for the list.

Miller, a 2011 third-team NSCAA All-American, led Virginia in scoring last season with 15 goals and four assists for 34 points. Her 15 goals are the fifth-highest single-season total in school history. She also earned first-team All-ACC honors in 2011.

Brian, a 2011 first-team NSCAA All-American, had 11 goals and eight assists during her rookie season. An All-ACC first team selection, seven of her goals came against conference foes, including all three of her game-winning goals. She was a semifinalist for last year’s MAC Hermann Trophy and was the Soccer America National Freshman of the Year. She will miss the beginning of this season due to international duty at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

The list will be narrowed down by NSCAA members from Division I programs to 15 semifinalists by Nov. 29. Member coaches and fans will then vote for their top three choices and the finalists will be announced Dec. 6. The winner will be announced at the awards’ banquet at the Missouri Athletic Club on Friday, Jan. 11.
