Cavaliers Unbeaten on Day Two of ITA All-American Main Draw

TULSA, Okla. – The Virginia men’s tennis team went undefeated during the second day of main draw play the ITA All-American Championships. Mac Styslinger (Birmingham, Ala.) and Alex Domijan (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) reached the singles quarterfinals, while also advancing to the doubles semifinals.
It marked the seventh time in the past eight years that Virginia had an All-American singles quarterfinalist, and the third time in that span that multiple Cavaliers reached that round.
Styslinger, who is looking to be the third consecutive Virginia freshman to win the fall’s most prestigious tournament, downed No. 13 seed Mikelis Libietis of Tennessee 6-2, 6-0, on Friday’s round of 16. He plays Peter Kobelt of Ohio State in the quarterfinals.
Domijan, the tournament’s No. 6 seed and the 2010 ITA All-American Singles Champion, reached the quarterfinals with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Slim Hamza of Utah. He next faces Emilio Gomez of USC, who upset top-seed Henrique Cunha of Duke in the round of 16.
In doubles, Styslinger teamed with Jarmere Jenkins (College Park, Ga.) to win a pair of matches to reach the semifinals. They opened the day with an 8-6 win over fifth-seeded Juan Spir and Eduardo Segura of Georgia Tech. The followed that win an 8-6 win over Clemson brothers Yannick and Dominique Maden in the quarterfinals. They will play Moritz Buerchner and Norbert Nemcsek of North Florida in the semifinals on Saturday.
Domijan and Harrison Richmond (Pawleys Island, S.C.) posted an 8-6 win over Harrison Adams and Shane Vinsant of Texas A&M in their first match of the day. Later they downed No. 2 seed Shaun Bernstein and Evan King of Michigan 8-5 in the quarterfinals. They play Auburn’s Dan Cochrane and Andy Mies in the semifinals.
Play continues Saturday at the University of Tulsa with the quarterfinals and semifinals of singles, followed by the semifinals of doubles.
