Charlottesville, Va. – The Virginia men’s golf team returns to action this weekend at the 2012 Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate tournament. The event will take place at the par-72, 7,147 yard Blackthorn Club in Johnson City, Tenn.

Virginia’s lineup will include Denny McCarthy, David Pastore, Nick Tremps, Mac McLaughlin and Ji Soo Park. Nick McLaughlin will compete as a non-scoring individual. The tournament will be the first time Tremps competes as a scoring member for the team.

Tremps leads the team with a 70.67 scoring average following his fourth-place finish at the Patriot Intercollegiate. McCarthy is second at 71.67.

The 13-team field includes Army, Coastal Carolina, East Tennessee, Furman, Memphis, Missouri, Penn State, Pepperdine, Tennessee, UNC-Wilmington, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.

The Cavaliers have had a strong showing at the tournament the last three years. Virginia was second last season and won the 2010 tournament. The Cavaliers placed third in 2009.
