Governor’s Office Release

RICHMOND, Va. – Governor Bob McDonnell announced Thursday the date and game times for the Inaugural “Governor’s Holiday Hoops Classic.” The 2012 Classic will be held on Saturday, Dec. 22 at the Richmond Coliseum. The event features a doubleheader with the Richmond-George Mason game at 3 p.m., followed by the Virginia-Old Dominion game at 5:30 p.m.

The television broadcast information for the games has not yet been announced.

Ticket prices for the doubleheader are $70 for club seats, $50 for seats in the lower bowl, $35 for seats in the upper level, and $20 for seats in the 300 level. Student floor seats will be sold for $10.

Ticket requests for seats in Virginia’s sections at the Governor’s Holiday Hoops Classic are currently being accepted from Virginia Athletics Foundation donors and 2012-13 Virginia men’s basketball season ticket holders. Single game tickets in Virginia’s seating block will go on sale to the general public through the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office starting Oct. 26. For more information, fans should contact the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office by phone at 1-800-542-UVA1. UVa students may order student tickets online at UVaShots.com beginning Oct. 29.

Tickets will also be available through Ticketmaster and the Richmond Coliseum box office beginning on Nov. 30.

In conjunction with the Governor’s Holiday Hoops Classic will be a food drive, which will begin on Nov. 15 and end on Dec. 15. During this time Virginians are encouraged to consider making a food or financial donation to their local food bank. When they do, they will then designate one of the four participating universities to receive the credit for that donation. At the end of the food drive, Virginia’s food banks will tally up the food and funds received, and the winners for each matchup will be announced between the two games on Dec. 22.
