Chapel Hill, N.C. – The 24th-ranked Virginia men’s golf team dropped back to a tie for fourth place following Saturday’s second round of play at the Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C. Virginia shot 21-over 309 after opening the tournament with the top first round score of 2-under 286. The Cavaliers are tied with NC State for fourth at 19-over 595. North Carolina leads the field at 5-over 581.

Virginia senior All-American Brittany Altomare enters Sunday’s final round tied for fifth place at even par 144. She shot 3-over 75 Saturday. Portland Rosen had the team’s best second round score, posting a 2-over 74 to move up to 36th at 151. Elizabeth Brightwell is in 20th place at 148 after shooting 78 Saturday.

Alex Hershberger dropped back to a tie with teammate Nicole Agnello in 68th place at 12-over 156. Hershberger shot 83 during the second 18 holes while Agnello posted a score of 82.

Baylor’s Hayley Davis has a one-shot lead after 36 holes at 4-under 140.

The final round is set for Sunday with live scoring online at Golfstat.com.
