CHARLOTTESVILLE – The No. 11 Virginia women’s soccer team concludes its three-game roadtrip Sunday with a visit to No. 22 Virginia Tech. Game time at Thompson Field in Blacksburg is 5 p.m. There will be a live webcast of the game at hokiesports.com (subscription required, but Cavaliers Live subscribers can use their login to access the broadcast).
The Cavaliers are 11-4-1 overall and 4-3-1 in the ACC after suffering a 1-0 overtime loss at top-ranked Florida State last weekend. It marked the first time Virginia had been shutout this season. With a win or tie on Sunday, the Cavaliers would clinch their 19th consecutive year of going .500 or better in ACC play.
Virginia Tech is 12-4-1 (3-4-1 ACC) after a 3-0 win at Clemson on Thursday. The Hokies are 6-2 this season at home.
The Cavaliers lead the all-time series 15-2-1, including a 4-1-0 mark in Blacksburg. The teams met twice last year in Charlottesville, once in the regular season and in the NCAA Round of 16, with Virginia winning both games by a 4-0 score. The Cavaliers won 3-0 in 2010 in their last trip to Blacksburg.
Following Sunday’s game, Virginia will conclude the regular season on Thursday as it hosts Boston College. Game time at Klöckner Stadium is 7 p.m. Prior to the game, the Cavaliers will honor the four senior members of the team: Erica Hollenberg, Caroline Miller, Julia Roberts and Carrie Wisman.
