Team Notes
• UVa is now 34-14 all-time against Wake Forest and 17-9 all-time in Charlottesville.
• After winning nine in a row against Wake Forest at Scott Stadium between 1984-1999, the Demon Deacons have now won two of the last four meetings in Charlottesville.
• Virginia held Wake Forest to its second lowest number of total yards in a game this season with 213. Wake’s 126 at Florida State is the only total lower.
• The 213 total yards by Wake Forest is the fewest allowed by UVa since William & Mary had 169 in the 2011 season opener. It’s the fewest by a UVa ACC opponent since North Carolina’s 174 in 2009.
• Wake Forest’s 213 total yards is the fewest by a UVa opponent in a win against the Cavaliers since Clemson had 192 in a 13-3 Tigers’ victory in 2008 – also played at Scott Stadium.
• UVa’s defense has allowed a combined 448 yards in the last two games, an average of 224 yards per game.
• UVa held Wake Forest to 1-of-15 on third downs, including 0-of-11 to start the game.
• UVa came into the game averaging 4.0 three and outs per game (19th nationally) and forced Wake Forest into seven three and out situations.

Player Notes
• With 30 yards receiving, Perry Jones became 31st player in UVa history with 1,000 career receiving yards.
• Jones is now the fourth player in UVa history, and 12th player in ACC history, with 1,000 career receiving yards and 1,000 career rushing yards. Other UVa players are Frank Quayle, Terry Kirby and Alvin Pearman.
• Jones is also only the second active FBS player and only in the BCS to have 1,000 career rushing yards and 1,000 career receiving yards – Houston’s Charles Sims is also part of the club.
• With five receptions, Jones passed Terry Kirby (105) and is now tied with Patrick Jeffers (108) for No. 11 all-time at UVa in career receptions.
• With 79 yards receiving, Tim Smith became the 32nd player in UVa history with 1,000 career receiving yards.
• Smith and Jones were high school teammates at Oscar Smith High School and both graduated in 2009.
• Jay Whitmire made his first career start at right tackle for UVa.
• Phillips Sims’ 56-yard pass to Tim Smith was the longest completion of his career.
• Sims’ 15-yard rush was a career long.
• Sims found Smith for a 13-yard TD pass in the second quarter, the first time the duo hooked up on a score since Dec. 6, 2008 when Sims threw four TDs to Smith in the 2008 Group AAA Division 6 state championship game at Virginia Tech’s Lane Stadium.
• Sims had 253 yards passing, his second career game with at least 200 yards passing, become the 24th Cavalier to pass for over 200 yards at least twice in their career.
• David Dean registered his first career sack.
• Khalek Shepherd had UVa’s longest punt return of the season for 25 yards. Entering today’s game UVa had 14 punt returns that had netted 34 total yards (all by Shepherd).
• Ian Frye made a career long 30-yard field goal in the third quarter. Frye also had a miss of 44 yards, his first career miss and the longest attempt of his career.
• Jeremiah Mathis had a 16-yard reception, the longest of his career.
• With 14 tackles, Steve Greer passed P.J. Killian (316) for sole possession of 11th all-time in the UVa annals for career tackles with 320. Greer, for the third week in a row, is the ACC active leader in career tackles.
• Greer has registered double figures in tackles 11 times.
• Chris Brathwaite’s nine tackles and 2.0 tackles for a loss are both career highs.
• Eli Harold had a career-high seven tackles.
• Drequan Hoskey broke up a career-high four passes.
