CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—The Virginia men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams host South Carolina this weekend at the Aquatic and Fitness Center. Diving will be split up over two sessions, with the first starting Friday (Nov. 2) at 7:15 p.m., and the second at 9:30 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 3). The swimming action is slated for 11 a.m. Saturday.

Live results of the action will be available through VirginiaSports.com. Admission to Virginia swimming and diving meets is free to the public. Surrounding parking lots are open to the public, however fans are advised to adhere to the posted parking signs.

This past weekend, the Cavaliers opened their season with sweeps over Navy on Oct. 26 and Pittsburgh on Oct. 28. Junior Rachel Naurath was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Female Swimmer of the Week after winning five individual events, while senior Tom Barrett, sophomore Shaun Casey and freshmen Courtney Bartholomew and Carl Buergler each posted four solo wins.

Senior Lauren Perdue has the top time in the nation in the women’s 50 free (22.59) and the second-fastest mark in the 100 free (49.67). Naurath’s 200 fly time (1:58.30) ranks fourth, while her 500 free (4:48.52) and 200 free (1:47.76) rank sixth and ninth, respectively.

Bartholomew ranks fifth in the 200 back (1:57.06) and seventh in the 100 back (53.91), while sophomore Ellen Williamson currently stands fourth in the 200 IM (2:01.20).

On the men’s side, junior Brad Phillips has the sixth-fastest time in the country in the 1,000 free (9:07.98). Fellow junior Taylor Grey is seventh in the 200 breast (2:01.17) and senior Brady Fox is 10th in the 200 back (1:47.37).

South Carolina’s men are 1-2 on the season, while the women are 0-3 after being swept by Florida on Oct. 26 in Columbia, S.C. Rylan Ridenour was named the SEC Male Diver of the Week after sweeping the boards against the Gators.

The Cavaliers and Gamecocks last met on Oct. 24, 2008, when the Virginia women won, 163-132, and the UVa men were victorious, 165-124.
