FLUSHING MEADOWS, N.Y. – The Virginia men’s tennis team opened continued its strong play on day two of the ITA Intercollegiate Indoor Championships at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The Cavaliers had two players reach the singles semifinals and one team reach the doubles semifinals.

In singles, top-seeded Alex Domijan (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) remained unbeaten in the fall with a pair of wins. He defeated Ben McLachlan of Cal 7-6(5), 6-1 in the second round before downing Romain Bogaerts of Mississippi State 6-4, 6-0 in the quarterfinals. He faces Sebastian Fanselow of Pepperdine in the semifinals on Saturday.

No. 6 seed Jarmere Jenkins (College Park, Ga.) also had a pair of straight victories, both by 6-3, 6-3 scores. He topped Vlad Stefan of Michigan in the second round and Mikelis Libietis of Tennessee in the quarterfinals. He plays fourth-seeded Henrique Cunha of Duke in the semifinals.

First-year Mac Styslinger (Birmingham, Ala.), who upset No. 3 seed Matija Pecotic of Princeton in the first round, fell to Raymond Sarmiento of USC in the second round, 6-4, 6-3.

In doubles, the team of Jenkins and Styslinger, seeded No. 3, reached the semifinals with an 8-4 quarterfinal win over brothers Ben and Riki McLachlan of Cal. They face the second-seeded duo from Duke of Cunha and Raphael Hemmeler in the semifinals.

The tournament runs through Sunday at the home of the U.S. Open.
