EARLYSVILLE, Va.—The Virginia rowing program won three races at the Rivanna Romp, the final regatta of the fall season, Sunday morning (Nov. 11) at the Rivanna Reservoir in Earlysville, Va.
“It was a beautiful morning and a great day to close out our fall season,” head coach Kevin Sauer said. “I thought Columbia looked great out there today. Thanks to them, Louisville, Penn and Old Dominion for coming to Virginia to compete and good luck the rest in the spring!”
The Cavaliers started the morning off with a victory in the varsity eights. UVa’s top boat finished in 13:19, nine seconds ahead of Columbia (13:28). UVa’s second V8 claimed third in (13:47) and had additional boats place sixth (14:18) and 10th (14:43).
Virginia’s crews finished first in the novice eights in 14:40 and also placed fourth (15:32) and fifth (16:10).
UVa also claimed a victory in the fours in 14:45 and placed fourth (15:37), 13th (16:16), 15th (16:35) and 17th (16:40).
Virginia’s spring season begins March 9 with a scrimmage against Michigan State at Claytor Lake Stake Park in Dublin, Va.
