Virginia coach Joanne Boyle

On the game:
“Great game. Every game in the ACC is tough and we were really prepping hard for NC State. They were 0-4 coming in but all their games were tough. I told our team early not to take them lightly and they were a dangerous team. I think they proved that in the first half.”

On game play:
“I knew we had to value the ball because both teams were kind of chucking it around a little bit, and we wanted more possessions. We wanted to run when we could and run a set when we couldn’t and make sure we were getting same inside out. They really stayed in that zone. I thought at first we were just dribbling and not trying to move the ball against the zone but in the second half we did a much better job.”

On scoring distribution
“It’s always nice to have four starters in double figures. It shows you’re sharing the ball people are confident out there everybody trusts each other. It was a great game for us, not early, but we broke it out in the second half.”

UVa Player Kelsey Wolfe

“We knew we had to locate their shooters on defense. That was killing us. Then we needed to play solid on offense- just run our sets and execute them well.”

UVa Player Telia McCall

“We’ve learned not to get down on ourselves when were down. Were just going to keep playing hard, keep pressing and get out on the shooters. That’s what they like to do. We like to play our zone and they plant their shooters in the corner and we just need to mindful of them and get out on them.”

On her confidence
“It can be attributed to just making shots, making open shots, not forcing it, and my teammates passing me the ball and playing good team offense and good team defense.”

North Carolina State Head Coach Kellie Harper

“It was a competitive game. We know this is a tough place to play. Virginia does a really good job of not beating themselves. They are very consistent and they are going to win a lot of ball games being that way.”
