Four Cavaliers Named to All-ACC Academic Women's Soccer Team

CHARLOTTESVILLE – Four members of the Virginia women’s soccer team were named to the 2012 All-ACC Academic Women’s Soccer team, tying the most selections in school history. Sophomore midfielders Morgan Brian (St. Simons Island, Ga.) and Danielle Colaprico (Freehold, N.J.), freshman forward Makenzy Doniak (Chino Hills, Calif.) and junior midfielder Kate Norbo (Roanoke, Va.) were honored for their work in the classroom and on the field.

Brian, a kinesiology major, played in the final 15 games of the season after missing the start of the year on duty with the United States team that won the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. An All-ACC first-team selection, she had four goals and seven assists on the season. Three of her goals came during Virginia’s run to the ACC Championship, where she was named tournament MVP.

Colaprico appeared in all 24 games, starting 18 for the Cavaliers. She was third on the team in scoring with five goals and a team-high nine assists for 19 points. Her play earned her NSCAA second-team All-Southeast Region honors.

Doniak appeared in all 24 games, starting 17 during her rookie season. She was second on the team with 10 goals, eight assists and 28 points. A first-team Soccer America All-Freshman Team honoree, she set a school record by scoring in each of the first five games of her career.

Norbo appeared in all 24 games, starting 14 as she returned to the lineup after missing most of 2011 due to injury. She set career highs with six goals, four assists and 16 points, including tallying in goals in both of Virginia’s NCAA Tournament victories.

It is the first career ACC All-Academic team honor for all four players.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative grade point average during her academic career.
