COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Virginia blanked Maryland, 7-0, in ACC women’s tennis action Saturday afternoon at the Tennis Center in College Park.

The Cavaliers (3-4, 1-0 ACC) claimed the doubles point and all six singles matches to earn their third win of the season.

Virginia won the doubles point as juniors Li Xi (Kunming, China) and Caryssa Peretz (Cherry Hill, N.J.) defeated Olga Gaistruk and Gabriela Srodowski 8-1 at No. 3. The Cavaliers clinched the point as freshmen Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) and Stephanie Nauta (Galveston, Texas) beat Vroni Van Berlo and Sarah Gealer 8-4 at No. 1.

Senior Erin Vierra (Norwell, Mass.) made it 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Srodowski at No. 4 singles. Senior Hana Tomljanovic (Boca Raton, Fla.) shined in a 6-1, 6-0 win over Gaistruk at No. 5 and Elbaba clinched the match with a 6-2, 4-6, 10-7 win over Van Berlo at No. 1.

Xi ended a five-match losing streak with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Olga Bredikhina at No. 3 and Peretz beat Natiliya Bredikhina 6-2, 6-4 at No. 6.

Virginia returns to action at Baylor on Tuesday, March 12. First serve is set for 5 p.m.
