CHRISTIANSBURG, Va.—Sophomore Virginia diver JB Kolod qualified for the NCAA Championships on the second day of the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships Saturday (March 16) at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center in Christiansburg, Va.

Kolod placed third on the men’s 3-meter boards with a score of 776.5. Virginia Tech’s Logan Shinholser won the 3-meter boards a day after taking the 1-meter title Friday, which opened up an extra qualifying spot. Kolod claimed that open spot with the third-place finish Saturday. The NCAA Championships will be held March 28-30 in Indianapolis, Ind.

Freshman Carl Buergler also qualified for the 3-meter final and finished fifth with a score of 752.70. Classmates Colby Shinholser (260.90) and Jordan Sacks (206.40) placed 28th and 40th, respectively.

On the women’s 1-meter boards, freshmen Becca Corbett (498.50) and Katie Warburg (480.20) both qualified for the finals, placing seventh and ninth, respectively. Junior Kelly Lloyd (224.65) was 20th, sophomore Laura Gartrell (220.05) was 24th and junior Carlin Tettelbach (207.30) was 36th.

The meet concludes Sunday with the men’s and women’s platform events. The action begins at noon.
