CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia senior Jarmere Jenkins (College Park, Ga.) was named the ACC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, conference officials announced Tuesday. Jenkins helped lead the top-ranked Cavaliers to victories over No. 25 Clemson and Georgia Tech last week as Virginia’s ACC win streak reached the 100-win milestone.

Jenkins was undefeated in singles and doubles in the victories. On Friday, as the Cavaliers downed Clemson 7-0 for their 100th consecutive victory against conference opposition, Jenkins topped No. 24 Yannick Maden 6-3, 7-6(6) at the No. 1 position. He also teamed with Mac Styslinger (Birmingham, Ala.) for a 9-8(4) win at No. 1 doubles against brothers Yannick and Dominique Maden. In the 6-1 victory over Georgia Tech on Saturday, Jenkins celebrated his senior day with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Juan Melian in singles. He and Styslinger also downed No. 67 Juan Spir and Eduardo Segura 8-2 in doubles. It was Jenkins’ 100th career doubles win, making him the eighth Cavalier to record 100 wins in both singles and doubles.

The award is the fifth of Jenkins’ career and his second this season. He was also honored on March 5 this season, in addition to his three awards last year.

In the latest ITA rankings, released Tuesday, Jenkins moved to No. 1 in singles and No. 1 in doubles, with Styslinger. He becomes the fifth Cavalier to reach the top spot in the singles rankings, joining Somdev Devvarman, Sanam Singh, Mitchell Frank and Alex Domijan. Jenkins and Styslinger are the third Virginia team to be No. 1 in doubles, matching the feat of Brian Vahaly and Huntley Montgomery and the duo of Devvarman and Treat Huey.

Virginia (19-0, 8-0 ACC) looks to complete its seventh consecutive undefeated ACC regular season this weekend as it visits Florida State on Friday and Miami on Sunday.
