CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – No. 14 seed Virginia (19-9) plays No. 3 seed Texas A&M (23-3) in the round of 16 at the 2013 NCAA Women’s Tennis Championship on Friday, May 17. First serve at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex at the Atkins Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Illinois is set for 5 p.m. ET. The Cavaliers are competing in their school-best fifth consecutive NCAA Tournament and are seeking their first NCAA quarterfinal appearance in school history. Virginia defeated Fairleigh Dickinson (4-0) and Texas (4-3) to advance to its third consecutive NCAA Round of 16.

Virginia is 12-13 all-time in 14 NCAA Tournament appearances. The Cavaliers are 6-2 in the NCAA Tournament over the past three seasons. Head coach Mark Guilbeau has guided the Cavaliers to the NCAA Tournament in seven of his eight seasons.

The Cavaliers are 0-2 against Texas A&M this season, losing 4-1 at the ITA National Indoor Championships in Charlottesville on Feb. 10 and 5-2 on March 13 in College Station. The Aggies advanced to their second NCAA Round of 16 with wins over Southern (4-0) and TCU (4-1).

Virginia’s singles lineup features freshman Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.), freshman Stephanie Nauta (Galveston, Texas), senior Hana Tomljanovic (Boca Raton, Fla.), junior Li Xi (Kunming, China), senior Erin Vierra (Norwell, Mass.) and junior Caryssa Peretz (Cherry Hill, N.J.). UVa’s doubles pairings are Vierra and Nauta, Elbaba and Tomljanovic and Xi and senior Maria Fuccillo (Rockville, Md.).

The winner of the Virginia-Texas A&M match will play the winner of the Northwestern-Miami match in the quarterfinals on Sunday, May 19 at 5 p.m. ET.
