CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia head baseball coach Brian O’Connor has announced his team’s schedule for the 2013 fall season.

Virginia’s fall slate will consist of a pair of exhibition games as well as the annual Orange and Blue World Series, a seven-game intrasquad series. UVa will play host to High Point on Sept. 21 in exhibition play; the time of the game will be announced once the game time for the UVa-VMI football game, also slated for Sept. 21, has been established. The Cavaliers will take on the Ontario Blue Jays on Sept. 27 (5 p.m.) in exhibition play as well.

Per NCAA regulations, the Cavaliers’ fall exhibition game with High Point will count toward Virginia’s 56-game regular season for the 2014 season. The outcome of the game will not count toward the Cavaliers’ record in 2014 however. UVa now will play 55 regular-season games in the spring (the Cavaliers have played 54 regular-season contests each of the last two seasons).

UVa’s annual intrasquad Orange and Blue World Series begins Oct. 1 and consists of seven games through Oct. 20.

There is no admission charge for any of Virginia’s exhibition game or Orange and Blue World Series contests. Free parking will be available in the University Hall lot. Fans should plan to enter Davenport Field for all fall games along the first-base line and not the main gate. The best route to reach this entrance is by using the road adjacent to the Lannigan Field track complex.

The Cavaliers open fall practice on Saturday, Sept. 7. That practice is open to the public. It begins at 9 a.m. and precedes the Virginia-Oregon football game at 3:30 p.m.

Virginia owns the most wins in Division I baseball over the last five seasons, with 245 victories. Following a 50-win season and trip to the NCAA Super Regional for the fourth time in five seasons, Virginia returns 23 letterwinners, including seven position starters, from its 2013 squad. UVa welcomes nine newcomers to the program this season.
