CHARLOTTESVILLE – Eight members of the reigning NCAA Champion Virginia men’s tennis team received preseason individual rankings from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Friday. Six veterans and one newcomer received preseason singles rankings, while three doubles teams were ranked.

Among the six veterans among the top 125 in the preseason singles rankings were three Cavaliers in the top 20. Senior Alex Domijan (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) opens the year at No. 2, junior Mitchell Frank (Annandale, Va.) is No. 15 and sophomore Mac Styslinger (Birmingham, Ala.) is No. 20. Sophomores Ryan Shane (Falls Church, Va.) and Harrison Richmond (Pawleys Island, S.C.) are No. 46 and No. 51 respectively, while senior Justin Shane (Falls Church, Va.) is No. 117. With six players in the top 125, Virginia leads all schools.

In addition, freshman Thai-Son Kwiatkowski (Charlotte, N.C.) is No. 7 in the ITA list of top-10 newcomers/freshmen.

Three Cavalier doubles teams are ranked among the top 60 in the nation in the preseason rankings. Domijan and Frank return as a pairing and open the year at No. 8. NCAA Doubles Champion Styslinger, who won the title with recent graduate Jarmere Jenkins, teams with Justin Shane to enter the season at No. 27. Richmond is paired with first-year Luca Corinteli (Alexandria, Va.) and they are ranked No. 55.

The Cavaliers open the fall season next weekend, Sept. 13-15, at the Olympia Fields Invitational in Olympia Fields, Ill.
