PITTSBURGH – The top-ranked Virginia women’s soccer team continues its three-game road trip Sunday with its first ever visit to Pittsburgh. The Cavaliers will meet the host Panthers at 1 p.m. at Ambrose Urbanic Field on the Pitt campus. The game will also be broadcast online by ESPN3.

The top-ranked Cavaliers (8-0, 2-0 ACC) were victorious in their road opener Thursday, rallying for a 2-1 win at Boston College. After the Eagles had taken the lead early in the second half, Virginia answered with goals from Makenzy Doniak (Chino Hills, Calif.) and Molly Menchel (Alexandria, Va.) to remain unbeaten on the year.

Virginia is one of two unbeaten and untied teams remaining in Division I, along with Iowa. With a win on Sunday, the Cavaliers would match their second-best start to a season with a 9-0-0 record, last accomplished in 2004. Virginia leads the ACC and ranks third nationally in scoring at 3.75 goals per game.

The Panthers (4-4-1, 0-3) are looking for their first conference victory during their inaugural season in the ACC. Pitt dropped home games to Boston College and NC State last week before falling 2-0 at Clemson on Thursday.

The game is the first all-time meeting between the schools. The Cavaliers are also the first No. 1 women’s soccer team ever tow visit Pitt.

Virginia concludes its road trip Thursday with a visit to No. 16 Duke. That game will start at 7 p.m., and will be broadcast online on the ACC Digital Network. The Cavaliers return home to host No. 23 Maryland on Sept. 29 at 2 p.m.
