CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia men’s lacrosse head coach Dom Starsia announced that midfielder Rob Emery, midfielder Bobby Hill and defenseman Scott McWilliams have been selected as team captains for the 2014 campaign.

“I am very happy to announce our captains for the coming year,” said Starsia. “These young men have been leaders, on and off the field, since the day they arrived on Grounds. In every way they reflect the ideals of a Virginia student-athlete. There has been an edge to practice and the workouts since we began a month ago and the urgency of our preparation reflects the tone that Rob, Bobby and Scott have exhibited on a daily basis. We are also blessed to have other outstanding leaders in the program and we will benefit from everyone’s example. ”

Emery, a senior from San Francisco, Calif., is a two-time USILA All-American and a member of the 2013 ACC All-Academic team. Emery is tied for No. 15 all-time at UVa among midfielder goal-scorers with 59 career tallies.

He caused at least one turnover in 14 of UVa’s 15 games. McWilliams has picked up 97 career ground balls and has scored two career goals and assisted five more.

“Rob, Bobby and Scott will carry the banner for a highly motivated Virginia lacrosse team this 2013-14 academic year,” said Starsia.
