CHARLOTTESVILLE – The top-ranked Virginia women’s soccer team continues its three-game road trip Thursday with a visit to NC State. Game time at the Dail Soccer Field in Raleigh is 7 p.m., and the game will be broadcast online by ESPN3.

Virginia (14-0, 8-0 ACC) is the nation’s only unbeaten and untied team. In their fifth week as the nation’s consensus No. 1 team, the Cavaliers lead the nation in scoring at 3.21 goals per game. That attack is led by junior midfielder Morgan Brian (St. Simons Island, Ga.) and sophomore forward Makenzy Doniak (Chino Hills, Calif.), who rank second and third in the ACC in points with 26 and 25 respectively. Virginia is the only school in the nation with two 25-point scorers this season.

The Cavaliers are coming off a 2-0 victory at No. 11 Wake Forest Sunday. Sophomore Brittany Ratcliffe (Williamstown, N.J.) and first-year Alexis Shaffer (Cary, N.C.) scored for Virginia as the defense posted its eighth shutout of the season.

The Wolfpack (6-9, 1-8 ACC) is looking to snap a seven-game losing streak. NC State is coming off a 1-0 home loss to Clemson Sunday.

Virginia leads the all-time series 22-12-1, including a 9-5-1 mark in Raleigh. The Cavaliers have won 17 of the last 18 meetings, including the last three. Virginia won last year’s matchup 4-0 at Klöckner Stadium. The teams have split the two previous meetings at the Dail Soccer Field with NC State winning 2-1 in 2009 and the Cavaliers winning 1-0 in overtime in 2011 on a golden-goal from Brian.

Virginia concludes its three-game tour of Tobacco Road on Sunday with a matchup with No. 4 and reigning NCAA Champion North Carolina. The Cavaliers return home on Oct. 24 as they host Miami.
