GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia sophomore forward Brittany Ratcliffe (Williamstown, N.J.) was named ACC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week, conference officials announced Tuesday. Ratcliffe scored three goals last week as the top-ranked Cavaliers posted a pair of road victories.

In Thursday’s 5-0 victory at NC State, Ratcliffe came off the bench for her second multi-goal game of the season, striking twice in an 83-second span of the first half. She made her second start of the season on Sunday and scored the game-winning goal in Virginia’s 2-0 win at No. 4 North Carolina. The victory was the Cavaliers’ 16th straight, matching the school record set in 1990.

Ratcliffe has 11 goals on the season, ranking second on the team and fourth in the ACC.

The award is the first of Ratcliffe’s career and the third for a Cavalier this season. Junior midfielder Morgan Brian (St. Simons Island, Ga.) earned ACC Player of the Week honors on Aug. 27 and Oct. 15.

Virginia (16-0, 10-0 ACC) closes out the regular season with three straight home games, beginning Thursday against Miami. Game time at Klöckner Stadium is 7 p.m.
