CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia men’s and women’s track & field teams will continue their 2014 indoor season Friday night as they compete at the Gene Anderson Invitational, hosted by North Carolina. Field events will begin at the Eddie Smith Field House at 5 p.m., with running events starting at 6 p.m.
Virginia will send a select group of athletes to the meet, where they will face competition from four other schools. Joining the Cavaliers and host Tar Heels will be athletes from NC State, North Carolina A&T and South Carolina State.
The Cavaliers will take mostly sprinters and jumpers to the meet, including five that will make their season debut. Junior Payton Hazzard (Huntington, N.Y.) and first-year Andrea Wright(Chesapeake, Va.), who were both event winners at last week’s Orange & Purple Classic in Clemson, are among the group of athletes competing for the second straight week.
Virginia will return to action on Jan. 24-25 with the Rod McCravy Memorial Meet in Lexington, Ky.
