No. 13 Virginia Completes Weekend Sweep

CHESTNUT HILL, MASS. – No. 13 Virginia completed its ACC weekend sweep with a 6-1 win over No. 62 Boston College Sunday (Feb. 23) afternoon at the BC Flynn Athletics Complex.
The Cavaliers, who upset top-ranked Duke 5-2 Friday, improved to 7-2 with their second straight win.
UVa captured the doubles point with a clean sweep on all three courts. Sophomores Danielle Collins (St. Petersburg, Fla.), Maci Epstein (Winter Park, Fla.) and Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.), and freshman Marie Faure (Toulouse, France) and senior Caryssa Peretz (Cherry Hill, N.J.) each captured singles wins.
Epstein and sophomore Stephanie Nauta (Galveston, Texas) beat Jennifer Ren and Heini Salonen 8-5 at No. 2 doubles and No. 3 Elbaba and freshman Rachel Pierson (Princeton, N.J.) clinched the point with an 8-5 win over Jessica Wacnik and Lexi Borr at No. 1. Collins and Faure added an 8-5 win over Emily Safron and Katya Vasilyev at No. 3.
No. 53 Collins gave UVa a 2-0 lead with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Borr at No. 2 singles. Epstein made it 3-0 with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 win over Ren at No. 4.
Vasilyev put Boston College on the scoreboard with a 6-7, 6-4, 6-3 win over No. 39 Pierson at No. 3, but No. 4 Elbaba clinched the win for the second consecutive match with a 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 win over Wacnik at No. 1.
Peretz defeated Salonen 6-3, 6-1 at No. 6 for her first dual win of the season and Faure added a 7-5, 6-2 win over Safron at No. 5.
Virginia continues ACC action at Syracuse on Saturday, March 1. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
