CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia women’s soccer team announced Thursday the addition of nine players who will join the program this fall. The incoming class consists of seven first-years and two transfers.

The recruiting class of seven first-years includes several high school and youth All-Americans and players with youth national team experience. Olivia Hazelrigg (Rolling Hills, Calif.), Kelsey Kilgore (Glen Allen, Va.), Stephanie Krouskos (Alpharetta, Ga.), Veronica Latsko (McMurray, Pa.), Annaugh Madsen (Annandale, Va.), Shea Newman (Medfield, Mass.) and Megan Reid (Orinda, Calif.) will make up the team’s freshman class this fall.

Two transfers will also join the Virginia program this fall. Meghan Cox (Springfield, Va.) started all 21 games last year during her freshman season at James Madison and Krystina Iordanou (Upper Brookville, N.Y.) started 11 of 15 games last season as a freshman at Vanderbilt.

“We are extremely excited about our 2014 recruiting class, said head coach Steve Swanson. “We obviously graduated a large and very experienced senior class, so our challenge was to bring in a class that had quantity, quality, and character. We believe this year’s class has all ingredients to be extremely successful here at Virginia, both on and off the field. In addition to their soccer talent, each of these players are committed to improving, playing for the team, and are very hard workers and excellent students. Ron, Kerry and Jaime deserve much of the credit for recruiting such a well-rounded class. We all feel this group has the ability to impact the team right away, but will be special by the time they graduate in 2018.”

The nine newcomers will join 15 veterans from the 2013 Cavalier team that went 24-1-1, posted a perfect regular season (19-0-0), was ranked No. 1 nationally for most of the year and reached the NCAA College Cup.
