CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-Virginia junior swimmer Ellen Williamson has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District III At-Large First Team, the College Sports Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday (May 15). With the selection, Williamson is now eligible for Capital One Academic All-America honors.

Williamson, a native of Ft. Mitchell, Ky., earned All-America honors with the 200 medley relay that placed seventh at the NCAA Championships. She won the 100 fly at the ACC Championships and was a part of three relays that captured conference titles, including the 800 free relay and the 200 and 400 medley relays. The 2012 ACC Freshman of the Year represented the United States at the 2013 World University Games. Williamson is majoring in systems engineering and has a cumulative GPA of 3.57.

To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.

The women’s at-large includes bowling, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, rowing, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball and water polo. District III encompasses the states of North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
