CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 10 Virginia field hockey team (6-2, 2-0 ACC) closes out the weekend by hosting No. 7 Albany (6-1) on Sunday, Sept. 21 at 1 p.m. at University Hall Turf Field. Admission is free for all of Virginia’s regular-season home field hockey games.

Virginia has won five-straight games, including a 2-1 road win at No. 3 Duke on Friday night (Sept. 19) and double-overtime victory over No. 15 Louisville last weekend (Sept. 12).

Freshman midfielder Tara Vittese (Cherry Hill, N.J.), the reigning ACC player of the Week, scored Virginia’s first goal against Duke and assisted on UVa’s second, a shot by sophomore midfielder Lucy Hyams (Whitstable, England). Vittese leads the team with 21 points on six goals and nine assists. Sophomore striker Caleigh Foust (Bryn Mawr, Pa.), who scored both of last weekend’s overtime game-winners, paces the squad with seven goals.

The game against Albany will be the second of three-straight contests against top-10 teams for the Cavaliers. Virginia will finish the stretch next Friday, Sept. 26 when it hosts No. 4 Syracuse at 6 p.m. at Turf Field.

Albany secured its best-ever No. 7 ranking after upsetting then-ranked No. 8 Stanford last week in Palo Alto, the program’s first-ever win over a top-10 team. The Great Danes are on a three-game winning streak entering its contest in Charlottesville, also beating Pacific 2-0 last weekend in California.

Virginia is 1-0 all-time against Albany with the Cavaliers earning a 2-1 victory last season in New York.
