PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Virginia juniors Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) and Stephanie Nauta (Galveston, Texas) won their opening match, but were eliminated in the round of 16 in the doubles main draw on Thursday (Oct. 2) at the 2014 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships.

No. 22 Elbaba and Nauta defeated No. 55 Welma Luus and Nataliya Bredikhina 6-1, 6-0, but fell 6-4, 6-4 to No. 1 seed and defending NCAA champion Maya Jansen and Erin Routliffe of Alabama in the round of 16.

In main draw singles action, No. 5 Elbaba was upset by Florida’s Brooke Austin 7-6(6), 2-6, 7-5 in the opening round of 32 and will play former Cavalier teammate No. 54 Rachel Pierson of Texas A&M in the consolation round of 16 on Friday.

Singles semifinalists, doubles finalists and consolation champions will receive automatic entry into the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships Nov. 6-9 in Flushing, NY.
