Singles Draw (with consolation draw) | Doubles Draw

CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia men’s tennis team will have players compete for the ITA Atlantic Regional singles and doubles titles on Tuesday after posting victories Monday at the Snyder Tennis Center. Junior Ryan Shane (Falls Church, Va.) will compete in the singles final, while the team of Shane and Luca Corinteli (Alexandria, Va.) will compete in the doubles final.

Second-seeded Shane will play top seed Amerigo Contini of Virginia Tech in Tuesday’s final. He reached the singles final with a pair of wins Monday. Shane topped fifth-seeded Andreas Bjerrehus of Virginia Tech, 6-4, 6-4, in the quarterfinals to open the day. He followed that win with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 victory over seventh-seeded teammate Thai-Son Kwiatkowski (Charlotte, N.C.) in the semifinals. Kwiatkowski had downed fourth-seeded Carlos Lopez Villa of Old Dominion in the quarterfinals, 6-3, 6-4. Corinteli, a No. 9-16 seed, fell in the quarterfinals to eighth-seeded Francisco Dias of George Washington, 6-4, 7-6(1).

In doubles, the fifth-seeded team of Shane and Corinteli advanced to the finals with a 3-6, 7-6(5), 10-8 semifinal win over fourth-seeded Leo Stakhovsky and Mike Reilly of Penn State. They will meet the seventh-seeded pair of Alexandre Drean and Daniel Gray of UMBC in the final.

Tuesday’s singles final will begin at 10:30 a.m., with the doubles final to follow (not before 1 p.m.). Admission to the tournament is free at the Snyder Tennis Center. In case of inclement weather, play will be moved indoors to the Boar’s Head Sports Club.
