CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The start of the 2015 college baseball season is just two weeks away, and the Virginia baseball team is ranked near the top of all the major national polls in the preseason rankings. The Cavaliers are a unanimous top-five selection in the preseason national polls.

Virginia is ranked as high as second nationally in the preseason prognostications. The Cavaliers are tabbed No. 2 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll as well as the Perfect Game rankings.

UVa is ranked No. 3 nationally by D1Baseball and Collegiate Baseball. Baseball America ranked the Cavaliers No. 4 in the preseason.

UVa is the highest ranked team from the ACC in each of the preseason rankings. The Cavaliers return 14 letterwinners from their 2014 team which went 53-16 and reached the College World Series Finals. The Cavaliers bring back their entire starting pitching rotation from 2014: LHP Nathan Kirby (Jr., Midlothian, Va.), LHP Brandon Waddell (Jr., Houston, Texas) and RHP Josh Sborz (Jr., McLean, Va.) and also welcome back five key position players.

Virginia opens the 2015 season on Feb. 13 with a three-game series at East Carolina. Following UVa’s series in Greenville, N.C., the Cavaliers begin their 34-game home schedule Feb. 17 at 3 p.m. against VCU.

Season tickets, 10-Game Mini Packages and single-game tickets currently are on sale through the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office. Tickets may be purchased by logging on to VirginiaSports.com, calling (800) 542-UVA1 or by visiting the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office in Bryant Hall during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
