CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia women’s cross country team had four athletes honored Thursday as the Atlantic Coast Conference announced the 2014 All-ACC Academic Teams. Junior Cleo Boyd (Kingston, Ontatio), sophomore Sarah Fakler (Phoenix, Ariz.), and graduate students Iona Lake (Norwich, England) and Kathleen Stevens (Blacksburg, Va.) were recognized.

All four athletes were among the scoring five for the Cavaliers at this year’s ACC Championships, where Virginia finished third. Fakler and Lake earned All-ACC recognition with 12th and 13th place finishes, respectively. Stevens was 25th and Boyd was 45th.

The All-ACC Academic Team honor was the fourth of Stevens’ career. Boyd, Fakler and Lake were honored for the first time in their careers.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
