CHARLOTTESVILLE – Three members of the Virginia women’s soccer team were selected for the United States U-23 Women’s National Team’s upcoming trip to Spain. Recent graduate Danielle Colaprico (Freehold, N.J.) and rising seniors Makenzy Doniak (Chino Hills, Calif.) and Emily Sonnett (Marietta, Ga.) were among the 22 players named to the roster.

The U-23s will play three games in La Manga, Spain at a six-team invitational tournament. The United States will play the U-23 squads from Japan (Feb. 26), Norway (Feb. 28) and England (Mar. 2) at the event.

Colaprico, who selected by the Chicago Red Stars in the first round of last month’s NWSL Draft, is one of 14 professional players selected to the squad. Doniak and Sonnett are among the eight collegiate players on the roster.

Virginia head coach Steve Swanson is the head coach of the United States U-23 Women’s National Team, but will miss the La Manga tournament while serving as an assistant coach with the full national team at the Algarve Cup in Portugal. Illinois head coach Janet Rayfield will lead the U-23s in La Manga.
