Charlottesville, Va. – The No. 10 Virginia women’s golf team returns to action this weekend when it competes in the fourth annual Darius Rucker Intercollegiate that starts Friday, March 6, and runs through Sunday, March 8. The 17-team field will compete at the Long Cove Club in Hilton Head, S.C.
The tournament field consists of 12 teams currently ranked in the Golfstat poll and 11 of the last 14 NCAA Champions. The field includes host school South Carolina, Alabaam, Arkansas, Arizona State, Auburn, Duke, Furman, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, North Carolina, Mississippi State, USC, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest.
Virginia’s lineup will include Elizabeth Szokol, Lauren Diaz-Yi, Briana Mao, Lauren Coughlin, Maho Hayakawa and Lyberty Anderson will compete as a non-scoring individual. Diaz-Yi leads the team with a 72.06 stroke average and has won two tournament titles this season. She is ranked No. 23 in the latest Golfweek standings.
First- and second-round play begins at 8:30 a.m. and Sunday’s final round will start at 8 a.m. Live scoring will be available online at Golfstat.com.
Virginia finished fifth at the inaugural Rucker Intercollegiate in 2012, was seventh in 2013 and 13th last year.
