CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.–Nine Virginia divers will compete at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships Monday through Wednesday (March 9-11) at the Alumni Arena Natatorium in Buffalo, N.Y.

Senior JB Kolod (Pittsburgh, Pa.), juniors Carl Buergler (Arlington, Va.), Jordan Sacks (Wilmette, Ill.) and Colby Shinholser (Burtonsville, Md.) and freshman Jake Bowtell (Darien, Conn.) will compete in the men’s 1-meter event on Monday, move to the 3-meter boards on Tuesday and finish with the platform event on Wednesday.

Juniors Becca Corbett (Louisville, Ky.) and Katie Warburg (Wilton, Conn.) and freshman Corey Johnson (Ambler, Pa.) and Emily Langworthy (Gaithersburg, Md.) will compete on the women’s 3-meter boards on Monday, 1-meter boards on Tuesday and platform diving on Wednesday.

The 1- and 3-meter events will consist of a preliminary round of six dives and the top 18 will advance to the finals for a list of six more dives. In the platform events, the men’s prelim will have six dives, while the women’s prelim will have five dives. The top 12 will advance to finals and perform a second list of dives (six for the men, five for the women).

This year, the NCAA has instituted new rules for qualifying for the NCAA Championships. For Zone A, the top-seven finishers in all three women’s events and the men’s 3-meter and platform events, as well as the top-five finishers in the men’s 1-meter, will be eligible to compete at the NCAA Championships.

The Women’s NCAA Championships will be held in Greensboro, N.C., March 19-21, while the men’s national meet will be contested in Iowa City, Iowa, March 26-28.
