CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – No. 8 Virginia ended its two-match losing streak with a 7-0 win over Wake Forest in ACC women’s tennis action on Sunday (March 29) at Boar’s Head Sports Club. The match was originally scheduled outdoors at Snyder Tennis Center, but was moved indoors due to cold temperatures.

Virginia (13-4, 6-2 ACC) claimed the doubles point and received singles wins from Stephanie Nauta (Galveston, Texas), Skylar Morton (Bethesda, Md.), Danielle Collins (St. Petersburg, Fla.), Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.), Maci Epstein (Winter Park, Fla.) and Marie Faure (Toulouse, France) in the win. Wake Forest fell to 12-9, 2-7 ACC.

In doubles, Elbaba and Cassie Mercer (Huntington, W.Va.) defeated Karen Forman and Courtney Meredith 8-4 on court three. The Cavaliers clinched the point on court one as Collins and Morton beat Andrea Retolaza and Xue Zhang 8-2. Nauta and Epstein were leading Kimmy Guerin and Luisa Fernandez 7-4 on court two when the point was clinched.

In singles, No. 34 Nauta beat Fernandez 6-2, 6-2 on court three and Morton beat Meredith 6-2, 6-4 on court four. No. 31 Collins clinched the win with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Zhang on court two. No. 3 Elbaba beat Guerin 6-2, 6-2 on court one and Epstein defeated Forman 6-4, 6-4 on court five. Faure added a 7-6, 6-1 win over Retolaza on court six.
