CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 6 Virginia field hockey team (5-0, 1-0 ACC) closes out its current road trip by playing at Miami (Ohio) on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 12 p.m. in Oxford, Ohio.

Virginia is coming off a 4-3 victory at No. 11 Louisville on Friday night, the fourth-straight one-goal game for the Cavaliers. Sophomore midfielder Tara Vittese (Cherry Hill, N.J.) scored twice, including converting her second penalty stroke of the season. Vittese currently leads the ACC with 15 points.

The RedHawks (4-2, 0-0 MAC) are coming off a 3-1 victory at Indiana on Friday. Miami players have monopolized the MAC Player of the Week awards this season with Freshmen Avery Sturm being named the defensive player of the week and Paula Portugal earning the offensive accolade last week and junior goalkeeper Alysa Xavier and sophomore back Mariona Heras earning the respective honors after the season’s opening weekend.

Miami is 0-2 against ranked teams this season, but the RedHawks hung around in a 3-1 loss to No. 7 Albany and pushed No. 6 Stanford to the brink before falling in overtime, 1-0.

Virginia is 8-0 all-time against Miami including a 3-0 shutout last season in Charlottesville.

The Cavaliers return home on Friday, Sept. 18 to host No. 4 Duke (3-2, 0-1 ACC) at 6 p.m. at Turf Field. Admission is free for all of Virginia’s regular-season home field hockey games.
