Atlantic Regional Draws and Video Links

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Five Virginia men’s tennis players will be competing this week at the ITA Atlantic Regional Championship, being held Thursday, Oct. 15 through Tuesday, Oct. 20 at Virginia Tech’s Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center in Blacksburg, Va.

Live Video will be available for the matches played on the six varsity outdoor courts as well as the indoor courts.

Sophomore Henrik Wiersholm (Kirkland, Wash.), junior Luca Corinteli (Alexandria, Va.), redshirt junior Harrison Richmond (Pawley’s Island, S.C.) and seniors Jonathan Cornish (London, England) and Mac Styslinger (Birmingham, Ala.) will all be competing.

The tournament begins with qualifying on Thursday (Oct.15) and wraps up with singles and doubles finals on Tuesday (Oct. 20).

Play begins for the Cavaliers at 9:45 a.m. on Friday morning when Styslinger and Cornish, the No. 1 seed in the doubles tournament, will take on Glavin/Podvinsky of ODU and Corinteli and Richmond, the No. 3 seed, face George Mason’s Capitel and Moran.

In singles, Richmond will face William & Mary’s Christian Cargill at 2 p.m. and Cornish will take on either Buzoianu or Taylor at 4 p.m.

The top-16 seeds in the singles tournaments receive first-round byes and will not compete until Saturday, including Styslinger (8), Wiersholm (11) and Corinteli (13).

The singles and doubles champions will earn a spot at next month’s ITA National Indoor Championships at the UTSA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York.

Last season, senior Ryan Shane (Falls Church, Va.), who is not playing in this year’s tournament, became the seventh Cavalier to win an ITA Regional singles title. Shane and Corinteli won the 2014 doubles title, the fifth time a Cavalier duo won the championship.
