CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Blue team dominated Sunday in a 12-3 win over the Orange team in Game 6 of the Orange & Blue World Series at Davenport Field. The Blue clinched the second 3-game series, and the 7-game series now comes down to the final contest, scheduled for 3:15 p.m. Tuesday (please note the time change from the original schedule).

There is no admission charge for any of Virginia’s fall exhibition or Orange and Blue World Series games. Free parking is available in the University Hall lot. Fans should enter Davenport Field for all fall games along the first-base line and not the main gate. The best route to reach this entrance is by using the road adjacent to the Lannigan Field track complex.

Concessions and merchandise stands also will be open Tuesday.

The Blue batted around in each of the first two innings in jumping to a commanding 10-0 lead. All nine position starters for the Blue finished with at least one hit as the team piled up 15 hits — five for extra bases. Cameron Simmons (Fr., Royersford, Pa.) hit a three-run homer in the first inning as part of his 3-for-4, four-RBI day. Adam Haseley (So., Windermere, Fla.) had two hits and two RBI, while Justin Novak (So., Tokyo, Japan), Matt Thaiss (Jr., Jackson, N.J.) and Jon Meola (Fr., Toms River, N.J.) each recorded two hits and scored twice.

Jack Weiller (Fr., Waccabuc, N.Y.) went 3-for-3 and scored two runs for the Orange team.

Chesdin Harrington (Fr., Montpelier, Va.) worked four scoreless innings to earn the win in his start for the Blue, while Grant Donahue (Fr., Berlin, Md.) was saddled with the loss after his three-inning start.

The Blue team sent 10 batters to the plate in the first inning and had a 4-0 lead after four batters when Simmons launched a three-run home run into the bleachers in left-center field. The Blue sent 10 more to the plate in a 6-run second inning. Simmons provided an RBI double and was followed by Ryan Karstetter (Fr., Port Matilda, Pa.), who drove in two more with a single.
