CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Makenzy Doniak (Chino Hills, Calif.), a senior on the Virginia women’s soccer team, has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday (Oct. 20).

Doniak helped lead the second-ranked Cavaliers to a 4-2 win on the road at Boston College this past weekend, tying the school record for career points in the win with a goal and an assist. She now has 138 points for her career, tying the mark set by Angela Hucles in the 1999 season.

In the first minute of play at Boston College, Doniak intercepted a misplayed ball by the Eagles’ defense and put it in past the keeper to give Virginia the early lead in a match that would never see the Cavaliers trail. She then connected with junior Alexis Shaffer (Cary, N.C.) in the seventh minute to give the Cavaliers the 2-0 lead.

Virginia will now return Klöckner Stadium to host Louisville and No. 1 Florida State this week to close out the home portion of the regular-season schedule. The Cavaliers hit the pitch against Louisville at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22 in a match televised by the ACC Regional Sports Network (Comcast Mid-Atlantic in Charlottesville). Virginia will then host top-ranked Florida State on Sunday, Oct. 25 in a re-match of last season’s national championship. The contest will be televised by ESPNU at 1 p.m.
