Charlottesville, Va. – — The 22nd-ranked Virginia men’s golf team wraps up its fall season this weekend at the Kiawah Classic at the 7,100-yard, par 72 Turtle Point Golf Club in Kiawah Island, S.C. The 54-hole event begins at Sunday, Nov. 1, and continues with round two Monday and concludes with the final round Tuesday.

The 22-team field features Charleston Southern (host), Winthrop, Duke, Rice, Presbyterian, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Augusta, Missouri, USC Upstate, Maryland, Richmond, Louisiana Monroe, Georgia Southern, Coastal Carolina, Jacksonville State, Gardner-Webb, Radford, Loyola of Maryland, Virginia, College of Charleston and Newberry. Winthrop won the 2014 tournament with a score of even par 864.

Teams will tee off at starting at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday and Monday and there will be an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start for Tuesday’s final round.

Virginia’s lineup will include senior Derek Bard (New Hartford, N.Y.), junior Jimmy Stanger (Tampa, Fla.), sophomore Danny Walker (Bradenton, Fla.), senior Nick McLaughlin (New Castle, N.H.) and freshman Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.). Bard leads the team with a 71.50 stroke average, which finds him No. 38 in the latest Golfstat standings. Walker is second on the team with a 72.33 stroke average.

Bard enters the event coming off a four-way tie for first place at the U.S. Collegiate Championships in UVA’s last outing. He shot 6-under 210 at that event. He was also UVA’s top finisher this season at the DICK’s Challenge Cup.
